In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, side quests and shrine riddles offer some of the most rewarding exploration moments in Hyrule. Among these musical mysteries is The Ancient Rito Song, a shrine quest located in Rito Village that tests your patience and observation. Completing this quest reveals a hidden shrine while immersing players deeper into the rich folklore of the Rito tribe.

How to Start The Ancient Rito Song Quest

To begin this shrine quest, players must first complete the main story quest involving the Divine Beast Vah Medoh. Once Medoh is liberated, head toward the upper landing of Rito Village to speak with a Rito villager named Bedoli. She will recite the first half of a traditional song passed down through generations in her village.

To learn the rest of the verse, you need to speak with another villager named Laisa, who can usually be found inside one of the village homes during the day. Listening to both parts of the song provides the complete clue required to locate and activate the hidden pedestal. Once both sisters share their verses, the quest officially registers in your adventure log.

Deciphering the Rito Song Riddle

The lyrics of the ancient song mention a proud pillar in the sky whose heart lights up when the sun is high. This riddle directly points to a prominent rock formation located south of Rito Village across the lake. The heart mentioned in the song refers to a pedestal marked on a stone structure nearby.

To solve the puzzle, head over to the rock platform south of the village around noon on a clear day. As the sun reaches its peak between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM, the glowing sun shines directly through the natural rock opening onto the pedestal. Watching the pedestal glow orange signifies that the timing is correct to perform the required action.

Activating the Pedestal and Bareeda Naag Shrine

When the pedestal begins to glow bright orange, stand on or near the platform with a fire-based weapon or item. Equipping a bow and shooting a Fire Arrow directly into the center of the glowing pedestal will trigger the mechanism. Alternatively, placing a lit torch or igniting wood on top of the glowing heart also works perfectly.

Once activated, the ground will shake, and the Bareeda Naag Shrine will emerge from beneath the earth. Entering this shrine presents players with the Cannon Blessing puzzle, where timing bomb shots unveils the spirit orb reward. Completing this entire sequence adds another valuable Spirit Orb to your inventory and brings closure to an ancient Rito legend.
