Navigating the sprawling underground kingdom of Hallownest in Hollow Knight often leads players to mysterious structures hidden behind unique locks. One of the most intriguing optional areas is the Tower of Love, a locked fortress that holds valuable collectibles and an intense boss encounter.
Locating the Love Key in Queen's Gardens
Before you can enter the Tower of Love, you must first obtain the specialized item known as the Love Key. This key is located in the southeastern section of the Queen's Gardens, sitting alongside a deceased aristocrat bug near the transition path to the Fungal Wastes.
Reaching this part of the map requires players to navigate through acid hazards and aggressive enemies inhabiting the gardens. Once you locate the corpse, simply interact with it to pick up the key item. Carrying this key in your inventory unlocks the padded door protecting the upper levels of the tower.
Finding and Accessing the Tower of Love
The Tower of Love stands tall between the eastern edge of the City of Tears and Kingdom's Edge. Many players mistakenly approach the main steel door from the City of Tears side, only to find that it can only be opened via an internal lever. To reach the true entrance, you must travel into Kingdom's Edge and scale the left wall of the large open vertical shaft.
Following this elevated pathway leads directly to the top entrance of the tower where the keyhole resides. Inserting the Love Key into the padded door unseals the interior, granting full access to the structure's interior chambers.
Confronting the Collector and Claiming Rewards
Inside the Tower of Love, players will face a shadowy Void creature known as The Collector. This boss bounces around the arena while dropping glass jars containing hostile creatures to distract you. Managing these spawned adds quickly is essential for surviving both phases of the encounter.
Defeating The Collector permanently frees three trapped Grubs hidden inside glass containers throughout the tower. Additionally, the boss drops the Collector's Map, an essential item that reveals the locations of all remaining unrescued Grubs on your map. Securing this map makes completing the overall Grubfather questline significantly easier for players aiming for full game completion.
